My Interview with the “Arctic Monkeys” (+ gig & interview pics)
Osheaga 2009

With three CDs in 4 years (Whatever people say I am, that’s what I’m not/ Favorite Worst Nightmare and the new 3rd one Humbug) and sales, chartings and awards too many to mention here, these 4 English lads from Sheffield — that started in 2002 simply from getting guitars for Xmas have come a long long way.

Lead singer Alex Turner has a gift. Let’s face it. It’s not so much what he writes about – it’s how and the words he uses to get his messages across.  Combinations of social realism in a yorkshire dialect, with the figurative and use of a vivid imagination creates images so real you’d think you were watching them live out the stories.

Jamie Cook kills on lead guitar, Nick O’Malley is the 2006 replacement-who-stayed-on bassist, and Matt Helders drums and hosts their fun & informative Youtube series.

The interview with Alex and Jamie at Osheaga Festival 2009 covers their 1st stop in the UK this year and experiences around their new & 3rd CD, Humbug – such as:

- differences recording it in the States vs. the previous ones in the UK,
- what Alex thinks of American musicians,
- the west/east coast recording process with Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age) and James Ford (Simian Mobile disco),
- how they actually thought Josh might not be interested in working with them!
- …. and Alex also breaks news of Jamie’s secret passion (btw, it’s not guitar related!) and he gives ops on their recent webcast,
- while Jamie gives us a *hilarious solo when talking about their coveted spot on the next Guitar Hero.

Enjoy it …and let me know what you think! Learn anything? Anything suck about this interview? Did you laugh your head off ??
